I am a man on a mission lately. Since Lynn M. contacted me about her fight to save Ojibway Park, here in Windsor/LaSalle, I have tried to capture more of the interesting, rare and threatened finds in the park, such as the Blandings Turtle that may be featured in a future blog post.
Yesterday, while walking Pixie (whom you have met here in a previous blog post), Sharon and I were alerted that there were 3 Eastern Screech Owls and a Ferrous Owl living in various bird boxes and tree stumps. Shock! HORROR! I did not have a camera with me. The light pretty much sucked and I hadn’t yet dug out the tripod.
Well, today we went. The top photo is the Eastern Screech Owl that is living in a bird box in the middle of the “front” pond, on Matchette Road just North of the Nature Center entrance.
The interesting fellow below, also an Eastern Screech Owl, was captured sitting in a hollowed out Ash tree which had previously fallen victim to the Emerald Ash Borer infestation that has plagued our entire SouthWestern Ontario region.
The Ferrous Owl was not out today. Maybe tomorrow..
