Red Bull Air Race 2009 – Windsor, Ontario
Like many others who visited Windsor this last weekend, Ray and Sharon have funny looking tans. Actually, more burned from too much sun than tanned. However, there’s nothing better than an international event as perfect excuse to go out and shoot in AI Servo mode!
Sharon and I walked down on Saturday to the Red Bull Air Race held here in Windsor. We didn’t pay to get into the large fenced off area but rather found a good vantage point down in Dieppe Park, just east of the Caron Avenue pumping station, to shoot with my Canon 100-400mm telephoto zoom lens.
We had a ball and I got some cool experience shooting in AI servo mode, which I don’t do much since I’m more of a glamour and portrait shooter than events. However, I had to do it just to say that I can. Catching one of the planes taking down a pylon is one of my highlights.
I filled TWO 4 gigabyte compact flash cards and half of a third and then proceeded to narrow it down to a select grouping of photos to post. For your viewing enjoyment.. Windsor’s Red Bull races!
