My name is Ray A. Akey. I am a professional artist in the field of photography. The lens is my paintbrush on the world around me and I use it to capture that world for myself and for those who hire me. My main specialty is people photography. However, I have practiced and mastered a number of styles and genres of photography.

I was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario Canada. I have also been a Software Developer, using C and C++ programming languages since the early 1990’s. I became a Web Developer shortly thereafter. Since 1991, I have been developing and managing websites for individuals, small businesses and corporations. I am proficient in C, C++, PHP, MySQL, perl and other utility languages.

I bought my first digital camera, a Fujifilm point and shoot, in 2002. I had previously used Polaroid instant cameras and Kodak (film) disc cameras throughout the 1980’s. That all changed in 2003, when Canon released its first consumer digital SLR, the Canon “Digital Rebel” 300D. Since then I have studied and mastered most areas of SLR photography and lighting and have amassed an ample collection of camera and studio gear, including portable studio equipment. My current equipment allows me to shoot anywhere and anytime. I am able to shoot in studio or on location at any time of day or night.

My passion is photographing people, However, I can photograph anything that I am requested or contracted to shoot. Whether fashion, family, lifestyles, weddings, events, seniors, still-life, wildlife, artistic nudes and glamour, conceptual and commercial images, amongst others, Luminescent Memories Photography is passionate about photographing our subjects to the best of our ability.

Sharon, my wife, muse and assistant is my second shooter. Sharon is also featured as muse, subject and model in much of my creative portrait and nude work.
